A Palmerston Wedding. 1,4 elding was celebrated at All Mints Church, Palmerston North, on v, edncsday, when Jliss ISlizabetli Jane Jackson, eldest (laughter of Mrs. JackrCJ Street, was married to Mr. William James Halford, of Oakley Street, Palmerston North. The Rev H G Kosher performed the ceremony. ' The bride wore a. pretty frock of cream charmetise, trimmed with tucked net, glaco silk-, and insertion, and - a wreath of orange blossoms . and a veil. Miss Arties Jackson, wearing white silk lustre, trimmed with tucked net and braiding, and a large white hat, together with' Miss Gladys Halford, wearing an Empire frock of white embroidered muslin and a wliito hat to match, attended her as bridesmaids. Mr. W. Gulliver was tho best man, and Mr. W. Kicliolls the groomsman. The. bride's gift to the bridegroom was an albert chain, and to the brido was given a set of fnTS, and similar presents to the bridesmaids. A reception was afterwards held, tho usual toasts being honoured. Tho bride's go-ing-away costume was of wedgwood blue, and a white satin hat with wings. Fellding Notes. Mrs. Lawson is away in Palmerston. Mrs. Wheeler has returned from Palmerston. Mrs. Tombes (Wellington) is. staying wftli her mother, Mrs. Atkinson. Mrs. Evans has returned from Wellington. \ 1 'Miss Bishop (Dunejlin) is the guest of Mrs. Ilalliday. Mrs. Mackay is visiting her son. in To Kuiti. There was a large attendance at the rink on Saturday night, but the evening's enjoyment was spoilt by a serious accident which .'occurred, M'irs Levien breaking her leg in two places. Among those present were: Mesdames Grut, Harding. Lawson, Coles, Montgomery, Misses Bi-uco, ■ Shannon, Levien, ILiybittie, Matthew, Prior, Hill, Kisicn. Gould, and. others. On Thursday Mrs. Corfe gavo a most enjoyable bridge party at her residence in Derby Street. Among the guests were: Mesdames Miles, Montgomery, Horrocks, Roberts. Barton, Willis. Gillespie, Halliday, M'Allum, Grut, Miss Bishop, and others—Miss Bishop proving the winner. Mr. and Mrs. Cobbo gave a very enjoyable afternoon tea at Whitehead's tea-' rooms on Thursday, in honour of the Wesley Choir, who had returned victorious from the rccent Napier musical contest. The committee of tho Levin -Memorial Home are giving a gift tea (at. tho home, Berhampore) on Tuesday, S'eptembor 5. Gifts, comprising provisions, material, or subscriptions, will be. welcomed, as they considerably assist towards the'-upkeep of tho institution. Miss Molly Antill left Woodville -on Thursday for Wellington. - Tho French Club is giving a musical evening on- Tuesday in. the Arts Club. Miss Mnttio Putnam and Miss Sullivan are arranging the programme, and a pleasant evening may be looked for. Mr., Mrs.f and Miss Skinner left New Plymouth last week for Blenheim, their futuro liome. Miss Jf. Fookes, New Plymouth, is visiting her sister, Mrs. Fitzlierbort, ill Dannevirke. Mrs. A. L. Wilson has returned from a visit to Auckland and Rotorua. Mrs. Waterhouse (Hawke's Bay)'is'the guest of Mrs. Ramsden (Kumcroa). Mrs. Hindmarsh (Napier) has been staying with Mrs. B. Octe, Mangatainoka. The Acting-Chinese Consul for New Zealand is holding a reception at tho Consulate on Saturday, September 2. Mr. and Mrs. Vivian Riddiford havo gone on a visit to Sydney. ■Mr. and Mrs. Edward Anderson and Miss Anderson, at present in Great Britain, intend being back in New Zealand at the end of November. A marriage will take place at "Fernlea," 7G Hill Street, oil Wednesday next, August 30, between Mr. Arthur Wimpory, of Messrs. Sargood, Son. and Ewen, and late of England, and Mis-s Nellio Downes, eldest daughter of Mr. William Downes, of Timaru.
