THE BLOTTING OUT OF TAIERI.

HON. T. MACKENZIE "FEELS STRONGLY." (By Telegraph.—Special Correspondent.) Ghristchurch, August 23. The Hon. T. Mackenzie, who pas-fed through Christcliurch northwards last night, is reported to still feel very strongly iu regard to the. abolition of the Tnicri electorate. "I think that the .way in which tho electorate has been cut out," he siid to a reporter, "is simply shocking." He added that he finds, in the advancement of the electoral boundaries, a cood deal of unconscious Gilbertian humour, and he describes the incongruities of the position by a scries of. ecnundrunrs, which are well understood by those who known the southern electorates. His questions and answers are:—.

When is Tuaptka not Tuapeka?— "When Tiiapeka is oubido of if. When is Dunedin Central not Dunedin Central?—" When it wanders away beyond its boundaries and take.? in Green Island." When is Otago Central not Otago Central?—" When its boundaries are lapped by the'tides of the Pacific Ocean." When is Port Chalmers not Port Chalmers?—"When it takes a flight inland over half a dozen electorates and descends upon the inland plains of the Taieri,"
