HIGHER FEES FOR TOURISTS. • At the Acclimatisation Conference ves. terday, Jlr. Tripp (Wellington) moved:— "That a differential license ic? for shootins and fishing bo instituted, nnd oversea visitors bo charged at n higher rate than residents of the Dominion." The mover stated that tourists had mentioned to him how willing (hey would be to pay a littlo inore for the sport than was charged at present. He did propose that the fees charged visitors should bo much larger than tliat charged other ptop'.o—ho would, for argument's fake, charge, say .-C2, for-a fishing license, and «E5 for i> stalking license. Ho believed in New Zealand for New Zealanders, aud they had all paid, perhaps in an indirect mainier, a good deal of, money towards (ho cost of stocking tho ptrearas. 3fr. O'Regnn said'that the mutter wns one of principle—ho believed that all should be allowed to come and fish withoi't let or hindrance. Mr. C. A. Whitney spoke of a man who pnid ,ClflOO a year for certain trout-fishing rights at Home, and Hint man had in-fr-rmod him (hat ho would have to nay .•£150(1 a year when the time came to renew thnt !e?.se. He agreed with the proposal. Mr. Aspinall thought it mHit be inadvisable to issue a Dominion lirenws nnd a local lieo'tse, so that a'lisitoi' travolliiis tho Dominion would have to pay a fee in each district he fished in. The motion was carried by 15 votes to 1.
