THE EXHIBITION.

LIVING BRIDGE IN THE STADIUM. There,-was not a very large attendance at- the Coronation Exhibition last eventag owing to the wet, miserable weather., 'There was, however, a very fair attendance at the Living Bridge tourney held in ihe Stadium. The arrangements were : perfect, and everyone had an excellent view of tho game which was keenly played, the partners being Dr. Newman ami .Mr. Lan Duncan, and Messrs:'A. i). Whyte, and J. 11. N. A. Burnes. Under the direction of Mr. ,T. H. W. Harrison the gaily-dressed "cards" paraded prettily to the gay march music of a string band and with the players out of sight behind screens at each corner of the playing area, the cards were shuffled by a- tiny page, who dropped them irregularly at each of the four points until they were equally apportioned. Then each "hand" disappeared behind t'he screens and tho play began. .Only four hands in all were played, but it demonstrated that living bridge is just as interesting (if not more so) as living whist. When six tricks were taken by one player or the other the liWlo regiment: were enclosed in a broad ribbon labelled "the book," and the gaining of tho odd trick' was always the signal for applause.

THE TOENSTILES , TALLY. People to the number of 1536 passed through the turnstiles yesterday, bringing the total tally up to 150,284. The cash receipts for,, yesterday amounted to JB-43 17s. 5(1.

ATHLETIC MEETING TO-MGHT. A good athletic meeting—the final one to be held in the Exhibition—is the Stadium attraction for this evening. The programme mil'include a 15-mile Marathon i-acc, which is the second longest race ever held in Wellington. The entries are very satisfactory, and as there is expected to be a great struggle for points in the Partridge Cup competition, there, should be a big attendance of the sportloving community. FANCY DRESS CARNIVAL. As the Stadium will be undergoing preparation for the grand ball to be held on Friday night, there will be no attraction in the Stadium on Thursday evening. On Saturday, however, the committee has decided to hold a great fancy dress carnival and dance, with which the Exhibition will be brought to a close Substantial prizes will be given to the lady and gentleman wearing the most original costume, and there, promises to be a lively competition for both trophies. For full particulars the public are asked to watch the papers. THE BEST DAY. - with scllin E rights stats that Exhibitors' Day (Saturday last) was the- best day for.business throughout the Exhibition.

An attraction at the Exhibition is the beautiful exhibit of Mr. F. W. Monthev of Mount Albert. It consists of an ex' quisito variety of Australasian shells that have been.worked into artistic designs bv tho exhibitor, consisting of photo frame* handkerchief boxes, and ornaments of many kinds. This exhibit should draw considerable attention from patrons — Advt. "
