THE KACING COMMISSION'S KKPUKT. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) Westport, June 20. A meeting of the stewards of Ihe Westport Jockey Club decided to enter a. most I omphalic protest to tho Minister ajainst j tho recommendation ol the Racing Commission lo abolish (he Westporl. Jockey Club, and also to interview the Minister cf Internal Affairs at Wellington on Ihe matter, also tho Hon. I?. Jl'Kenzie on. tho occasion of his forthcoming visit to Westporf. The Eangitikei Hncin.; Club, tho dc-I inise of which has boen heralded hi tho report of the Kacing Commission, has (as staled yesterday) no intention of dying without a protesl. A deputation is to bo introduced to the Minister for Internal Affairs i:o-day by Mr. E. Newman. M.P. for Manawat'u, asking that the life of this old club (which has been in existence since 1855) 1)0 spared.- Those forming the deputation will be Mr. Donald Fraser (president), Messrs. J. A. Bailey, and J. S. Wilson (vice-presidents), 11. J. Mansell (treasurer), T. A. Perrett (representative of country clubs on the lincing Conference), and J. E. Walker, chairman of the Bulls Town Board.
