The United States Senate's Financial Committee refused to reconsider, as ordered, the Woollen Bill and tho Farmers' Free List Bill, and returned them to the committee.' Tho Senate will tako the same chances on tho Canadian Reciprocity Bill. The committee reported on both adversely. It is now conceded that tho path of Reciprocity is more difficult than ever, Tho Republicans do not desiro to accept Democratic Bills. There is strong objection to tho Wool Bill particularly.. Tho Democrats will probably offer the Wool Bill as an amendment to tho Reciprocity Bill. A bitter fight is expected. DEMOCRATIC AMENDMENTS. (Rec. June 25, 5.5 p.m.) Washington, June SiTwelve Democratic Senators have decided to vote against all amendments in the Reciprocity Bill. This.action, it is explained, is likely to lead to the destruction of the Democratic-Insurgent Republican coalition. Consideration of Mr. Root's amendment is fixed for Monday. Several of tho Senators have privately admitted that a vigorous effort will bo made to add the Democratic amendments to tho Reciprocity Bill in order to get it past the President. Mr. Root admits that there is a likelihood of his amendment being defeated. ATTITUDE OF THE'PRESIDENT. (Rec. June 26, oils a.m.) . Washington, Juno 25!' President Taft will veto any Tariff Bills submitted. Ho is determined to pass the Reciprocity Bill.
