MAGISTRATE'S COURT.

There'was an early sitting of the Magistrate's Court yesterday morning to dispose of a number of police cases. ■John Keane, who pleaded not guilty io a charge of assaulting Alexander Gnlbraith, and to a. further charge 'of using improper language, was remanded until this morning. ; Cecilia M'lntosh was convicted and disoharged for drunkenness, ..d'ilo for a breach of a-prohibition order.she was fined 205., with the option of seven days' imprisonment. On" a charge of drunkenness, Alexander Campbell ivas fined 205., in default seven days' imprisonment. Michael AVnlsh, who had been fnuu! helplessly drunk, aud hf.d been remanded for a week's curative, treatment, was ordered to pay 17s. Gd.,' expenses incurred, in default'lß houvs'-imprisonmenh -•' • Annie-Dunn, charge 1 villi drunkenness, was fined 10s., with Ihe option of 48 hours' imprisnnmeut, and she was also made the subject of a prohibition order. John Michael Dalton, appearing r.n remand on a chirge of drunkenness, was further remanded to appear at Carterton on June 2!). He was : dmittcd to .bail in tho sum of 20s.
