9 FATAL FALL OF EARTH. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.! - Gisborne, Juno 9. James Bashford was killed this morning by a fall of earth on tlie railway works at Rakauroa. KILLED BY A FALL OF EARTH. Gisborne, Juno 9. An accident occurred this mornir.pt on the railway construction works at Rakauroa. a singlo man named James Brentford being killed. Deceased and a number of other men were engaged on a cutting near a water-course, and a sudden fall of earth smothered Brentford, who was dead before ho could bo extricated. He was a recent arrival, and had only been two months on the works. An inquest will be held to-morrow. According to the Department's books alt that is known of deceased is that ho has a sister in Wanganui.
