Shortly after six o'clock last evening the Aorangi left Wellington for San Francisco, via Auckland, Papeete, and Earotonga. The vessel is due at Auckland on June 3, at Earotonga on June 8, at Papeete on Juno 10, and at S.in Francisco on Juno 23. She leaves the Californian port on June 28 on the return trip, and will probably reach here about July 20. Captain E.'P. Evans is in command. MAGISTERIAL INQUIRY. The magisterial inquiry in connection with the collision in the harbour between the ferry steamer Admiral and the Niwaru will be hcM at the Magistrate's Court on Monday evening at 7 o'clock. Dr. A. M'Arthur will preside, but tho assoKors have not yet. been appointed. HYNDFOED LEAVES NEW YOBK. On May 20 the steamer Hyndford left New York, under charter to the Vacuum Oil Company with a cargo of oil for New Zealand ports. She will discharge at Auckland, Wellington, and Lyttclton. THE TEEEA NOVA. ' Tho Antarctic ship Terra Nova was to be floated out of dock at Lyttclton yesterday. Repairs havo been executed to the keel, and two bottom timbers which were slightly damaged during her journey south. The hull has been given a coat of 'tar. and other necessary work carried out. Tho vessel will probably start on her surveying cruise early in July. Tho Wimmcra., duo here this morning from Sydney. Auckland, Napier, and GisbDrne, has on board 26C0 boxes of butter and 330 tons of general cargo for Wellington. At Lytte'.ton, the vessel lands passengers and mails, but takes no cargo from that port. A fog-signal station has been established on Patiti Point, 11 miles south of Timaru breakwater. Expected at Wellington to-morrow from the Eaot Coast, the Kahn is to leave again on Monday for Napier and the East Coast. Tho Ripple is expected to reach here from Picton on Monday. She leaves on Tuesday for Napier and Gisborne. Defender, s.s., leaves Wellington at noon to-day tov Greymouth and Hokitika, and will probably load timber at the latter port. Her subsequent destination is undisclosed. On and after Friday. Juno 2, the s.b. Earawa will only make two trips per week between Onehunga, and New Plymouth. She will leave Onehunga, for. New Plymouth on Sunday and Wednesday, and will leave the Taranaki port on Mondays and Thursdays on the return journey. Mr. F. Radford. mate of the Huia, and Mr. W. Haines. engineer, came ashore yesterday. Their places wore taken by 1\ Dewhurst and T. G. Kcarus respectively. Mr. F. C. Ranalds has been appointed chief engineer on the Manuka in place of Mr. A. Lewis. Early this evening the Drayton Grange leaves this port for Auckland to discharge cargo. From the northern port she pjoceeds to Lyttelton, Timaru, and Dunedin to complete. At noon yesterday the Federal-Houlder-Shire liner Mornyshirc arrived at the Bluff from Dunedin. Tho Maoriland Steamship Company's steamer Lauderdale came off the Patent Slip yesterday afternoon, and leaves here on Monday for Greymouth. Her place on the slip was taken by the Aorere ar.d Kiripaka. The Patcena will be the next vessel to go on the slip.
