Mr. John Knowles, of Matnrawn, accompanied by several members of his family, intends spending a holiday in tho Canterbury district. Jlr. Kiiowles landed in that district when ho first came out to New Zealand many years ago. The public swimming baths, recently erected here, were formally handed over to the Borough Council on Tuesday evening by a committee who acted on behalf of the citizens. The balance-sheet of the project showed that n total sum of =£351 4s. 8(1. wns available, this including a grant of XIOO from the Borough Council. At a meeting of the niiiiisterstjf religion at Oartertou on Tuesday afternoon, it was decided to liold a united service in Carrington Park at 11 o'clock on Coronation Day. Should the neither be net, the service will be .held in Victoria Hall.
