Tho Scottish Agricultural Commissioners, who recently visited Australia, declare that dependence on single men. was one of the most undesirable features of Australian country life. The demand for married childless couples was another objectionable phase. They speak highly of the Agricultural High Schools and urge the need for better co-ordination in scientific research work. They also refer to want of method in placing newcomers on the land and helping them to get a proper start. On the whole Australia is a good dairyman's country. The commissioners conclude by saying that it is curious that few of the wealthy industrial bodies of Australia have done anything for agricultural education.

THE HOUNDSDITCH BURGLARY 9 NINA VASSILEVA SENTENCED. By Telegraph—Press Association— Conyrieht London, May 12. The trial of the four persons accused of being concerned in the burglary of a jeweller's shop at Houndsditch in December last, the sequel to which was tho killing of three police and the wounding of two others, was concluded at the Old Bailey, before Mr. Justice Grantham and a jury. Jack Peters (aged 24), John Eosen (2G), and Zurka Dubof (21) were aoquitted. ■..■-.- Tho girl, Nina Vassileva (aged 23), was found guilty, and sentenced to two years' imprisonment. Tho jury recommended that shd should not be transported after her release.
