The Federal Arbitration Court has delivered judgment on tho claim of the En-gine-driversl and Firemen's Association of Australia, which affects a largo number of the leading mines throughout the Commonwealth. Rates of wages liavo been fixed as follow:—Locomotive and winding en-gine-drivers, 11s. to 12s. a day; other engine-drivers, 9s. to 10s. j firemen in charge of ono boiler, Bs. 4d.; firemen in chargo of two boilers, 95.; greasers and cleaners, Bs. The Court said it did not think a case had been made out for preferenceto unionists. The working hours have been fixed at 48 weekly, excepting in the case of locomotive drivers, regarding whom it is impossible to fix hours. The award is to operate for five years.
