SHORTAGE OF CLERGY.
PRESBYTERIAN PULPITS VACANT. By Telegraph-Press Association—Oopyrirht Sydney, May 12. The Presbyterians complain of the great dearth of candidates for tho ministry, also of tho actual shortage of ministers. At the present timo there are twenty-thrco Presbyterian charges in the State, not filled. Tho Rev.'Dr. Gibb, when questioned on the subject last night, stated that the same trouble lias been experienced here, but to a much lesser extent. However, during the present year tho position has improved considerably, and ho did not think there was a pulpit vacant in the Dominion. The difficulty experienced here was not so much in regard to ordained ministers as it was to u'ic unordained homo missionaries. These, homo missionaries are practically the. pioneers of tho Church in the remoter districts, and ho stated there were not as many offering for this work as was desired. Though the Church is more or less dependent on the supply from Home, there are at present large numbers of young men fitting themselves for tho ministry in the various Universities, and also at tho Theological College in Duncdin.
