BITTER PIT IN APPLES.

AN IMPORTANT DISCOVERY. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright Melbourne, May 11. Dr. Jean White, and Profess«r Evrari, of Melbourne University, are believed to have discovered the cause of bitter pit in apples. It is supposed to be the result of a certain spray, used to destroy codlin moth. Scientists are cautions in accepting the alleged discovery, but sufficient reliance is placed on it to justify the postponement of the Federal and State investigation;, on which it was intended to expend ten thousand pounds for the prevention of "bitter pit." The discovery will mean a saving of millions to applegrowers.
