SHORT PAYMENT—A DONATION.

(By Telegraph— Special Correspondent.) Palmerston North, April 28. At the April meeting of the Slanawatu Racing Club, short payment was made owing to an error on 409 tickets taken out on Stevens and Jargon in t'ho second' race on the first day. Subsequently the club's executive • was waited on by a number of thoso interested (including Mr. F. Easton, ono of the principal investors on the winner, Stevens), and it was suggested that the amount unpaid should bo donated to the Hospital. The sum at issue, is £90 13s. Gd.. and, at the meeting of the committee of the Racing Club last night, it was decided to give effect to the expressed wishes of the investors, and to hand the money over to the Hospital authorities.
