Diaz Government from the rebels' agents at Washington, and a favourable answer returned. Apologies have been made to the United Slates for the accidental killing of citizens at Douglas, Arizona, during the recent trans-frontier battle between Federal troops .and revolutionaries. The Mexican Cabinet has. - pointed out that most.of the shooting was done by.American filibusters, who were aiding the rebels, The rebels have abandoned Aguaprieta in consequence of a shortage of ammunition. 'Latest statements show that the casualties did not exceed thirty dead and fifty wounded. The Federals have occupied the town. A number of the rebels crossed the frontier and surrendered to the American authorities. Washington, 'April 19. Congress is not likely to intervene with regard to Mexico. The Democrats have abandoned the threatened attack on President Taft's action in dispatching troops to the Mexican frontier. Resolutions will be proposed in the House of Representatives asking the Foreign Affairs Committee to investigate the situation, with special reference to frontier happenings. STUBBORN FIGHT PROBABLE. MOVEMENTS OF TROOPS, (Rcc. April 21, 1 a.m.) Mexico City, April 20. The rebels formally demanded the surrender of Juarez within twenty-four hours, but the Federals did not reply. The town's defences are complete, and a stubborn fight is probable. A thousand Federals left Chihuahua bound for the relief of where the insurgents are active. It is reported that a thousand rebels are preparing to attack Atlixco. A Federal force left Aguaprieta intending to attack a band of revolutionaries seen in the neighbouring hills. . Washington, April 20. The Mexican Ambassador assured President Taft in an interview that peace would soon bo re-established.
