FEDERATED CATHOLIC CLUBS.

i ANNUAL CONFERENCE. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) Christchurch, April 17. Tho tenth annual conference of tho Federated Catholic Clubs opened on Saturday morning in the Christchurch Catholic Club's rooms, when twenty-one delegates were present from all parts of the Dominion. Tho Federation .executive representatives present were Messrs. A. H. Casey (president), and J. L. Leydon (hou. secretary). Tho Very Rev. Dr. Kennedy, on behalf of Bishop Grimes, extended a very hearty welcome to tho delegates, and Mr. J. 1?. Hayward (president of the Christchurch Catholic Club), also welcomed them. The president (Mr. A. H. Casey) in a brief address exhorted the delegates to be earnest and thorough in their deliberations with tho objcct of advancing the cause of the Federation. His Grace Archbishop Redwood' wrote extending his best wishes for tho success of the conference. The recently-formed Manaia Club was admitted to the Federation. Officers were elected as follow:—Presi-dent-General, his Grace Archbishop Redwood, S.M., D.D.; president, Mr. A. H. Casey; vice-president, Mr. J. M'Gowan; lion, secretary, Mr. .1. W. Leydon; lion, treasurer, Mr. 11. M'Kcown; executive, the foregoing officers and Mcsfrs. B. A. Guise, J. W. Callaghan, and T. Render. ' Reports on the past year's work were read from the affiliated clubs and showed that they were in a satisfactory condition. The next conference was fixed to be held in Wellington in Easter, 1012. The conference affirmed the desirability of the consolidation in each parish of Ihe various Catholic societies _ with a view ultimately to tho formation of a Catholic association for the _ Dominion. The appointment of a Catholic organiser for all Catholic societies was also affirmed, and tho. executive was empowered to bring this resolution before the forthcoming conference of Catholic Bishops.
