CARTERTON NEWS.
A team from the local Riflo Volunteers were defeated by a team from the Masterton Company in a shooting match at To Ore Ore on Friday by 501 points to 555. At the monthly meeting of tho South Wairarapa Hospital Committee a donation was received from the officers of the enmp at Tauherinikau, and it was decided to purchase-an invalid's chair, and have the name of the donors engraved thereon. The tender of Messrs. Turnbull and Jones (Wellington) was accepted for the installation of tho lighting plant for ■the new wing, and a committee was appointed to deal with the furnishings. It was decided to add the name of Dr. Palmer to the list of the honorary staff. A credit balance of .£233 7s. 3d. was reported. * It is reported that Mr. Georgo, of Carterton, has purchased Sir. E. E. Macdonald's farm a Tana'ha. Mr. and Mrs. It. M'Donald, ef Waihakeke, left on Thursday on a short holiday visit to Sydney. The weather on Saturday prevented the 'foiir rinks from tho local Bowling Club visiting the Hutt as vn« intended.
