VICTORIA COLLEGE SPORTS.
A SUCCESSFUL GATHERING. The Victoria College annual athletic sports meeting was held on Saturday on tlie ISasin Htscrve. The gntliering was held under pleasant uuspices, mid was attended with success. The championship cup, awarded to the competitor credited with tho best performance from scratch in any eveut, went to 'I'. Rigs, who won the mile ilat from scratch in 4min. 35 2-aEec—a university record for New Zealand by 3-sth of a second. G. Struck appropriated the Oram Cup, the reward of the competitor scoring Hie highest number of points from his handicap. J. he inter-faculty banner was won by Law, with 40 points. G. Struck, in the 440 hurdles, put up the excellent time from scratch of 05 1-asec, and I'. I'. Reids win from tho back mark in the half-mile (ill 2min. 5 2-ssec.) was also an excellent Achievement. He ran right through his field , in great style. The 120 hurdles was a well-contested event, and G. Stack's win- in 18 2-sscc. was meritorious mid popular.
