PETOSE CLUB. The Petono Tennis Club completed the gentlemen's handicap singles tournament on Saturday. The following are the results—First round: Andrews (22) beat H. Uvcrlnll (30), GO—so; Kean (23) beat \ Djincan (scr.), GO—l2; Parkinson (owe 10) beat Austin (5), 60-46; none (25) beat Foster (40). CO—ss. Second round- I? Thompson (38) beat L. Caverhill (35) CO -51; Andrews (22) beat Kean (23), 60—56: Parkinson (owe 10) beat Hopo (25), GO 18 • A. Thomson (40) beat Fhelan (35), GO—4?! Ohariu residents mustered in forco last Wednesday afternoon, the occasion boiiiß the opening of the now tennis court Jlr. Finlay Both'une, of Johnsonville, in 'declaring the green open, congratulated (ho residents upon having a tennis court. Afternoon tea was then dispensed by the Indies. The new , court has been hid down on ground granted to the club by Messrs. Bryant Bros. It is of tar rmil sawdust, and has been put down by Mr. V. Beach. There is already a strong and enthusiastic membership.
