RETIREMENT OF ARCHDEACON SINCLAIR.
1 Canon Holland is riot the only member oi : the Chapter of St. Paul who will' shortly take his "farewell of tho metropolitan Cathedral (says tho "Guardian"). 'J'he Archdeacon of London (Dr. Sinclair) has resigned tho post to which Dr. Temple appointed him well over twenty years ago, and will seek a less exacting sphere of labour in the country. Since his resignation does not take effect until the summer, tho Chapter will bo spared the inconveniences which would' necessarily' be attendant upon two simultaneous changes in its composition. Churchmen will learn with 'regret that tho Archdeacon is taking this step under medical advice, and will trust that relief from the arduous work • which falls upon '.'tile Bishop's eye" in a great diocese will have a happy effect. Dr. Sinclair has long been a familiar and popular figure at gatherings of Churchmen in London, and few men have accomplished a larger amount of useful administrative won;, especially in connection with education.
