The Methodist Conference to-day discussed tho largo increase in tho number of immigrants to Australia, and decided to appoint a chaplain at each port of entry, and to make other arrangements to wclcomo and look, after the interests of arriving Methodists, - - • Some grave charges wcro made regarding women immigrants. Ouo speaker alleged that women landed in Australia, who, if virtuous when they loft Britain, were certainly not so when they la'ndid.! Ho urged tho need for the better protection of women on shipboard.
