FIRE BRIGADE COMPETITIONS
(By Telegraph.—l'ress Association.! Hokilika, March C. Splendid weather prevailed to-day when t he firo brigades competitions were continued. .About 2500 were present. The reel and ladder event, which commenced on Saturday, resulted as follows: —Timaru (5!) 3-ssc'c,), 1; Invcrcargill (Gl 4-5 sec), 2; Onehunga (62 2-ssec), 3; Wauganui (63 4-ssec, including Isec, penalty), 4; Greymouth (65 l-ssec), including 2sec. penalty), 5; Duncdin City (66 2-ssec). 6; Carterton, Roslyn, Duncdin South, Hillside Railway, Newmarket, Naseby, Wcstport.'Mosgiel, Devonport, and Marton followed in the order mentioned. Hastings, Waimate, Dannevirke, Napier, Gisborne, Jit. Eden, Patea, Oamaru, Spit, and Tiinaru Railway were "blown out." Roefton, Stratford, Caversham, Hokilika South, and Masterton wero disqualified. Manual engine event, 5 men. First prize, .£ls; second, -«10; third, £5; fourth, ,£2 10s. Carterton (16 -Msec), 1; Napier (50 2-ssesc.), 2; Hastings (51 2-ssec.), 3; Spit (53 l-ssec.), i; Kutaara (58 2-ssec), 5; Wanganui (59sec), 6. Gisborne, Greymouth, Dannevirke, Dunedin City, and Wavcrley were next in tho order mentioned. Masterton, Eastown Railway, Timaru, and Greytown wero disqualified. Rescue event, two men. First prize, ,£7 10s.; second, X 5; third, .£3; fourth,. JB2. Dunedin City (23sec.), 1; Napier, 2; Greymouth (23 -1-5500.), 3; Onehunga (24 l-ssec.), 4;AYanganui (25 l-55ec.),5; Timaru Railway, 15. Dunedin City and Napier tied in the first run, and in the run-off the former team was successful. Mt.' Eden, Hastings, Geraldinc, Caversham, Hokitika, Masterton, Kumara, Auckland City, Dunedin South, Mosgiel, Waimate, Invcrcargill Railway, Hillside Railway, Devonport, Hunt.erville, Kaianoi, Stratford, Reefton, and St. Kilda followed in that order, with the exception of Caversham and Geraldinc, 20 2-ssec. each, and Waimato and Mosgiel, 28 2-sse'e. each. Eastown Railway, Rotorua, Patea, Spit, Invcrcargill, Oamaru, and Maori Hill were "blown out"; and Timaru, Gisborne, New Brighton were disqualified. ■ Ladder Race, one man. First prize, M and gold medal; second, £3; third, £2. Dunedin City, 1; Masterton, 2; Waimate, 3; Onehunga, t; Invercargill, 5; Napier, 6. The winner's time was 7 2-ssec. So far tho following teams have competed in the Disabled Hose event-.—Dan-nevirke, 80 2-sse'c.; Hillside Railway, SI sec.; Hokitika, 81 3-ssec.; Greymouth, 84 l-ssce.; Carterton. 84 4-ssec.; Naseby, 03 4-ssec. This and the remaining events will be continued on Wednesday. In tho Drv Counling event, which eventuated on Saturday, Dunedin City and Hokitika tied for second place, and in tho run-off to-day the visiting team was successful.
