_ 4 ■ "A MESSAGE FROM MARS." At tho Opera Houso this evening tlie Plimmer-Denniston Comedy Company is inaugurating a brief farewell season of popular plays, prior to its departuro for .Sydney. Sinco tho company last appeared in Wellington it has added Robert Gantliony's charming and delightfully original comedy, "A Message from Mars," to its repertoire, a play that has proved n very strong drawing card wherever presented. Tho play inculcates a lesson as well as providing food for hearty laughter, and had it been written a few years latrtr would probably'have been called (in tho prevailing fashion) "Tho Awakening ot Horaco Parker." Parker is the most selfish man in Loudon. To him in a dream comes a grim Martian, banished from Mars to tho earth to reclaim him who has lost himself'in a slough of overweening egotism. How this operation is effected by tho grim Messenger forms tho subject matter of ono of tho most interesting plays of modern times, and ono which, it is said, is singularly suited to the Plimmer-Donnistou Company. Tho part of Horace Parker will be assumed by that clever actor, Mr. Harry Plimmer, who will have tho support of Mr. Reynolds Dennis.ton as the Messenger, and Miss Lizette Parkes- as Minnie Templer. The booking for the season is very heavy, as a visit to the Dresden warehouse- will prove, and those who intend to witness any of the performances during. tho brief season would do well to-inspect the plans at once. As tho Dresden closes this afternoon, the plan may bo seen at Christeson's, in Manners Street, after 1 p.m.
