BOYS FROM ENGLAND.
AYHEN THE ATHENIC ARRIVES. A small society connected with the Anglican- C'luirchw iu .AYellington, ha& been doing very commendable work for some months in keeping a watchful eye over the welfare of English immigrants. Archdeacon Harper made a few remarks on the' nuitjor yesterday morning at St. Peters when 'announcing that in a few. days the Athanio would arrive with fifty' boys who' were coming out hero in a body. The officers of tho society will meet the boys, and see that they are well looked after, cooperating, if need be, with the Labour Department, providing them, also with' preliminary meals, and, if not already having employment to go to (which is believed to be tho case in this instance), will endeavour to see that they get The boys need' not necessarily belong to tho Church, though the chief function of the society is, presumably, to attend to those rwho do. Certain officers of the S.P.C.K. at Hobart, acting as the society's agents, go on board the liners and • distribute- cards containing information that will be of use when Wellington is reached. Archdeacon Harper said yesterday that from a small beginning the society had grown considerably in -numbers, had proved most useful, and'evidently, had an important work ahead. The Bishop of' Wellington is its president, and the secretary,,is St..Peter's missioni'lftj 1 ;'. frhq, resides,,in ,Taraiiaki Street. '
