THE SUNKEN STEAMER PILOT.
SALVAGE OPERATIONS. . During yesterday and on Saturday afternoon the Ferry Company's steamer Pilot, which sank at her moorings at the Ferry Wharf early on Friday morning, was the centre of attraction for numbers, of people who use the wharves as a promenade. Mr. C. F. Pulley has secured the contract to raise the vessel, and, on Saturday and yesterday, a diver was down making preparations for floating the little steamer. The task of salving her is rendered somewhat difficult owing to the fact that she'is resting on the bottom very close to the angle formed by tho Ferry Wharf and tho wharf along the water front. It will thus be seen that the work of getting a hulk 01* other salvage craft close to the scono will be ratheV difficult. However, it is hoped by those in charge to overcome this, and it is anticipated that 'the Pilot will be afloat again in the course of a day or two.
