OUTING FOR SEAMEN.
Boxing .Day's picnic 'ivill long be . remembered by the. saildrs in port. On Mjs. .games that caused I "endless fun were indulged in under the'guidance of Mr.-Moore,', .riiissioner, who was assisted by other workers. The football match, B.M.S.'. Tainui v. other ships, resulted in. one goal to'the former, and' three goals to the latter. In'the next event (the fire brigade) the men of the Tainui..beat all comers. The prizes' in the sports event went to the following:—Messrs. 0. Callaghan, Birkott, Hudson, Corke, 1 Matthews, Kirwin, Berryman, Frazer, Pasquan, Acaster, Wright, Godfrey, Allan, and Mantel]; Misses Cunningham and Ashley. ; After, the outdoor sports a. capital conce?!; was'given in the institute. 1 Songs were rendered by: Miss Smith and Miss Cable, Messrs. GOll- - Eankin, and Bryant. The lantern exhibition by Mr. George Barltrop was also a most enjoyable feature, the views (London, Italy,' and humorous) meeting with wnrnr approval ■ Sailors' choruses Were interspersed, and went with great swing Votes of thanks for all who had contributed to make the picnic so agreeable and pleasant were passed, and cheers being given. Mr. Barltrop responded. An announcement was made that there would be a concert followed by a midnight service, in continuation of the festivities of the season ott Saturday.
