SECOND DAT., , . ' LADY RICHMOND WINS BIG RACE. There was beautiful weather for the concluding day of the Hutt Valley Trotting Club's meeting at Petone, and.there was again a good attendance of the public. In consequence of the favourable conditions, the fixture is likely to prove much more profitable than the last'few of the club's gatherings, as the gate re r ceipts and the, fotalisator income both show substantial increases. , . Yesterday the totalisator investments amounted vto 42091, making a total of £4738 for the -two .-days, as. compared with-. i£3922 for -the.two days last year. Three, bookmakers were licensed yesterday—two. inside arid one outside. . ' Fees for the meeting are about il6o more fhau the club: received'last year.and as far as the "gates" are. concerned, the secretary, Mr. R.' W:. Short, estkmntes the revenue from this source to be something like more than, that of last year. The racing was again fairly interesting, though backers , found tlip.form rather difficult to follow. A feature of the meeting was a dividend of over .£SO. declared in ..one race, only four tickets being registered on .the winner. It was stated subsequently.that five tickets liad boon issued, and. as they were all presented- for payment,, the totalisator authorities were losers for the full amount, of one ticket. _ Among the lucky investors on the outsider were the owner and the rider of the horse.
