Mr. Fitzgerald spoko very earnestly of tho great love of God,'with special reference to the.mission which has' Dow concluded, lie. also dwelt upon, the close connection .between love anil sacrinee, ..and mentioned the fact that ho had received .very interesting letters from New Zealand Socialists which revealed remarkable sympathy with tho mission and its messago, and a longing for closer relations, with tho Church, though, the .writers did not at present see how'this better understanding could be brought about. Mr. I'itzgerald said' these letters, would give him much to think about during his vovage to England. Ho gave the congregation the following words of St. .John as ?i , rew ' motto: —"Hereby perceive. we tho love of God, bocauso Ho laid down Hislife for us: and wo 'ought to lay down our lives for the brethren." . a of the Anglican mission, a confirmation was held, last night at -St. .Paul's Pro-cathedral, Mulgr'avo ?J? cet u"£ e " th ,e bishop of Wellington' '(Dr.v VVallis) administered tho 'rite to over 100 persons. Tbe ages of those confirmed ranged from'-yonng people to persons well, advanced upon life's allotted three score yeans and-ten. .The ■ Bishop gave an appropriate address. There was a crowded congregation. .
