Conciliation Commissioner this morning. lhe union demanded an increase of wages and a general change in tho con-ditions-of work. The commissioner adjourned tho meeting to a date to be fixed, to allow representative-s of each parly to confer. The matter will probably come up 'at tho end of January. . ROAD BOARD MEMBERS FINED. ■ Taihape, December 14.' The chairman and two members of tho upper Wangaehu Koad Board were proceeded against by another member-of the .board to-day for an alleged -breach of Section 65 of the Eoad Board Act in voting. on a question in which they were personally interested. Tho S.M. inflicted a fine of M each and costs, the amount of the fine being based on the expense of a new election, as defendants loso - their seats on the board. Tho point in' question was the voting .of a sum as expenses for a.deputation to Wellington authorised by the board. The S.M. decided that the members were entitled to tho money, but did not go the right way to. work to get RESOLUTION RE HOW, G. J.
