ADDIXGTON STOCK SALES. C.hristchurch, December 7. At Addington live otock market there were good yardings of stock in most departments, and a largo attendance. Fat cattle showed a further decline. Younc stare sheep sold up to last weok's rates, but aged and low-conditioned Forts were easier. Tlioro was nn easier tone in. tho lamb market, and fat cwos were mucu easier. Pigs were dull of sale, especially stores, and there was a good demand for store and dairy cattle. There was o. large yarding of store shesp, but mostly of a poor cia'is. There was a, fair demand for good young sheep, but oilier descriptions were down about Is. per head. There were some fairly large lines of ewes and lambs, .but iuo ewes showed the effect", of the shortage nf feed. I'our-t.aoth wethers of medium quality made IDs. to 123.; two-tooth wethers. 6s. 10d. to 12s. Gd.; four-tooth owes, 13s. 3d.; six-tooth, 12s. 6d.: f.m.. 12-s.-, ngod ewes and lambs, ss. 9d. to 7s. 7d. (all counted); s.m. ewes in wool and lambs, 9s. 5d.; hoggets, to 12s. 6tl. There was an entry of 4617 fat lambs, or double last week's total, including n ec-od proportion of prime Quality, but at the same time there were a lart-e number 'of unfinished lots. Several of the export buyers were operating on reduced limits of price, as the prospective value- in London doe 3 not warrant the rates that have lately ruled there. The competition was, therefore, not keen for export, though tho butchers operated able for tho trade during tho prtvtnt noi weather. There ware 3191 takes iui expert at lls. 9d. to 17s. 6d.; 8(51 by butchers .it 9s. 4d. to 15s. 7d.: 156 by graziers at IDs. 3d. to lls. <d.; and 4C9 paEsed in at lls. 9d. to 153. sd. Tjie. yarding of fat sheep was about the but ewes formed a larger proportion than of late. There was a good demand lor wethers, and they maintained their values well, being about ceual to last week. There was, however, a decline of Is. tu is. per head in all but tho best classes of ewes, and even this did not sell up to last week's prices. The range of prices was:—Prime wethers. 16s. 6d. to 18s.; lighter, 14s. 6d. to 165.; prime ewes, 14s. to 175.; extra, t0,175. 6d.: others, 9s. to 13s. 6d.; hoggets, 12s. 9d.; merino wethers, lCs. 6d. . The yarding of beef totalled. Z7l head of good average quality, and included somelar, .-ind, on the whole, values were easier by about ss. per ICOlb. A number of lots were passed. Tho range of prices was:— Stfers, £6 to £10 105.; extra, to £13 3s. 6d.; heifers, £5 2s. 6d. to £8-lCs., eoual to 255. to 275. 6d. for prime, 235. to 245. \for me- , dium, and 20s. to 225. for cow and Inferior, per 1001b. Veal calves sold freely ax o». 6d. to £2 Ws. • Store cattle formed a ■ small yarding, but they sold well, especially 3-ycar steers. Yearlings made 345.; 15 to 18-months. & 10s.; 2-year s'.ccrs, £5 153.; 2-year hcifcro, £J Is., to £3 195.;- 3-year ■ steers, £5 to m> lls.; 3-year heifers, £4 lCs.; and dry cows, 30s. to £3 15s. Dairy cows were in good demand' at £3 10s. to £9 17s. 6c'.. A full yarding of pigs met with a dull demand, and prices were easier all round. Large baconers made 50s. to 555.; smaller, 4Cs. to 48a.
