They could not take it seriously. The member for Taumarunui had been talking about votes for back-blocks roads, and' had dropped into a rather sentimental vein in appealing on behalf of tlie settlers and their families. This did not please the Hon. R. Sl'Kcnzie, who was trying to get the Public . Works Estimates through. "The hon. member," ho remarked, "has simply been talking flapdoodle." Members laughed, but Mr. Jennings rose to a point of order. Was tho word used by the Minister for Courtesy and Public Works Parliamentary? (Laughter.) The Chairman of Committees (Mr. , Colvin) said he had heard tho word used before without objection being raised. „ Ho ruled to allow it. ' Mr. Massey: Perhaps the Chairman will tell us what it means? "Noes," but Mr. Jennings insisted, anc or called for a division.
