Blair, for tho plaintiffs, moved for interrogatories. - Mr. Young, for the defendant, opposed the order. Tho'late Mr. J. M'Gregor was in his day a well-known figure in Wanganui, and owned the well-known Cherry Bank Estate. When ho died, explained Mr. Blair, it was discovered that a will of 1881" had benefited his uiece, Christina Boyd, to the exclusion of other members of the Ifamily. Proceedings were then taken to upset tho will, the nearer relatives alleging undue inllucnce tho part of the beneficiary. In the middle of this tho copy of an earlier will was discovered, in which tho deceased's family participated, and it was agreed to " settle upon a compromise, rather than to enter on proceedings for tho object of disproving the second will. By this compromise, counsel explained, one John M'Gregor. became trustee in the estate, with a life interest—a contentious point, for the other side (his first .family) had claimed that John M'Gregor had • purchased the property. Various phases of tho litigation have '' been made public from time to time, r and will again bo threshed out between ? the father and the family at Wanganui' j during the approaching civil sittings.
