PEARCE ON THE RIVER.

I: i JSVf anganui, November-.'25:.-: ■fparce had his first spin on the Wanganm River this morning, and, in company with Fogwell, covered a good nve -miies at a solid pace, pulling firio; Jong, sweeping strokes which much impressed those, who saw him. -Ho looks nearly as big as Arnst in the boat, though he docs not sit up so straight, loarcfe, however, swings back in -much tJio same way, and appears to get'alt the advantage of his weight into tho fanish-if 'his:-stroke, which is free and clean throughout. Ho put in a sprint on returning, and, in this, snowed that ho can make his boat travel .through the water at a very fast rate. Ho strips well, and is a very finely proportioned man, who looks the picture of health and strength. ■
