THE NURSE AND THE REPORTER.

STOBMY SEQUEL AT DTJNEDIN. ißy Teleeraph—Press Association.) Duncdin, November 6. At a meeting of tho Hospital and Charitablo Aid Board yesterday, tho resignation of Miss Fraser,. matron of the hospital, was considered, and accepted with expressions of regret. In forwarding her resignation, Miss Fraser stated that her nervous system had received a severe shock, and she felt quite unable to continue in office. . Mr. London, chairman of the Hospital Committee, said that Miss Fraser had done her duty faithfully and well, her one object being to conduct tho hospital in the way it should bo conducted. A certain article in the "Otago Daily Times" had been grossly exaggerated, and, in some particulars, was absolutely contrary to fact.' No doubt an inquiry, would be made in all the complaints liade, and he was perfectly satisfied that they would be able to satisfy the public, in regard to Miss Fraser's zeal and management, and also in regard to the general management of the institution. Be would move: "That the board express its sincere regret at the resignation of Miss Fraser, and the reasons, prompting it, after so many years of honourable and faithful service, and that, as Miss Fraser would neither withdraw nor postpone her resignation, the same bo accepted, and tho question of making a temporary appointment be referred to the Hospital Committee for their immediate consideration, with power to act, and that tho board express its sincere regret over the regrettablo circumstances necessitating Miss Fraser's resignation'.'' Mr._ Myers seconded the motion, and, in doing so, endorsed Mr. London's remarks. The motion was carried unanimously. A meeting, of the Hospital Committee will be held on Monday, at 7.30 p.m. One of the nurses at the hospital, who admitted when questioned by . the medical superintendent, that she bad-given information to a "Times" reporter, was immediately suspended, and ordered to appear before the committee of the board. •'
