MASTERTON NOTES.
At a meeting held at. Masterton on Monday evening—a meeting which was representative of the various musical and literary institutions in the town—it was decided to form a Musical and Elocutionary Competitjons Society. A strong committee was set up to prepare rules and .information for presentation to a future meeting.
At a meeting of the Wairarapa Amateur Athletic Society on Monday night, seven new members were elected, and officials' appointed for an evening run of 100 yards, which takes place on Thursday.
A highly successful concert was held at Te Ore Ore in aid of the proposed Nativo ,nursirig home. The Hon. A. T. Ngata, M.P., was among those present.
Masterton is apparently 'not enthusiastic over the Makuri electrical waterpower scheme. It was unrepresented at the conference held in Pahiatua on Friday last.
The information that the Rev. W. Watson intends to remain in Masterton is giving much satisfaction to his friends, of whom he has many,
