CRICKET. THE "DOMINION COUNCIL. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.} Chrlstchurch, November 1. . The annual meeting of the New Zealand Cricket Council, which was adjourned- from last week, concluded last night. Officers were elected as follow :— President, Mr. E. Newman (Rangitikei); secretary, Mr. F. C. Raphael; treasurer, , Mr." J. Young; committee, Messrs. J. H. Williams, G.F. Francis, E. J. Austin, •R, Vincent, J. B. Brinsden. Th 6 balance-sheet showed receipts £130, expenditure £107, assets £84, liabilities nil. Tho credit from the Australian tour was £50. It was resolved to consult the associations in regard to the question of providing coaching for boys attending State schools. A motion by the retiring president that the president of. the conncil should be a resident of Christchurch was lost, as was an amendment that the president should be chosen from the senior associations. Notice was given of a motion to increase the subscriptions of associations to five guineas and three guineas respectively.
VICTORIA AND SOUTH AUSTRALIA. By Telegraph—Press Association—Oopyricrht. Adelaide, November 1. In the inter-State cricket match, Victoria v. South Australia, Viotoria has lost four wickets for 250 runs—Ransford 71, Armstrong 27, Kortlang (not out) 30. ' (Rec. November 1, 10.40 p.m.) Adelaide, November 1. Victoria, in its second innings, scored 305. Kortlang (not out) made 69, but the remainder of the wickets added 16 runs only. R-ees captured four wickets for 66 runs; Whitty, two for 68; Crawford, two for . 88; Hewer, one for 13; Wright, one for 52. In South Australia's second innings four wickets have gone for 202—C. Hill, 68; Crawford, 23; Gehrs (not out),) 100. Armstrong took three wickots for 68 runs, and Kenny, one for 80. South Australia has won by six wickets.' '

African cricket team aro taking two extended practice spells daily, under .match conditions. It is noticeable that their bowlma. is a bit short, owing to tho fact that they are accustomed to , a matting wicket, but they are rapidly becoming accustomed to the .new conditions.

WELLINGTON ASSOCIATION. A meeting of the committee, of the! Wellington Cricket Association was held ia«t night, Mr. M. F. Luckie presiding. There were also present :—Messrs. C. Hickey, V. B. Willis, J. PeaTce, W. A. Parton, C. E. Stevens (secretary). A letter was received from the Nelson Association asking .if the Nelson-Welling-ton match could take place on January 5 and 6 instead, of the dates previously arranged. It was decided to reply that the Wellington Association preferred December 30 and 31, as . the dates for the match—January 5 and' 6 would not be suitable.
The Auckland Association notified acceptance of the dates (December 24, 26, and 27) suggested by the Wellington Association. .for tile Wellington-Auckland Plunket Shield match. The dates are subject to the approval of the council. The rules provide for a fourth day if necessary. . . A communication was reoeived, enclosing a copy of the proposed regulations to govern challenge matches. It was decided that the association's delegates to the New Zealand .Council be instructed to move that no professionals be permitted to play in Plunket Shield matches. According to a complaint from the Umpires' . Association, some of the. olubs failed to Bend their teams into the field punctually to time on Saturday afternoons. It was decided to request ■ the umpires to report to the association all. teams failing to take the field at the stipulated, time on nest Saturday . and every succeeding time. . . : No senior' matches will be played on November 12 in. the event of the Basin Reserve being engaged for a sports meeting. AUSTRALIAN TEAM FOR BRITAIN. By Telegraph—Press Association-Copyrieht. London, October 31. , The Ranelagh Polo Club, through Mr. Lempriere, of Melbourne, is urging that an Australian polo team should visit Britain and compete for the Coronation Cup in July nest. It has been, pointed out that the team's ponies should arrive by the end of February or early in March to allow them to get, into condition. Mr. Lempriere is communicating with New South Wales, Victoria, and South Australian clubs. MORRIS-TUBE SHOOTING. A meeting of those interested in the formation of an Amateur Athletic Club at. Karori was held at the local hall, IvaTori, last evening. Mr. C. I. Dasenl (Mayor) was in the chair, and presided over an attendance of about forty. : .It was unanimously agreed 'to form an Athletic Club, to be known as the Karori Amateur Athletic Club, and' to apply to the New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association for affiliation. The rules of the Wellington Centre were adopted, subject to revision by a committee to be set up for the purpose. The subscription was fixed at ss. per annum. Messrs. J. H. Pollock and A. Marryatt, members of the N.Z.A.A.A., attended, and'addressed the meeting, giving suggestions concerning the management of athletic clubs, which were appreciatively listened to, and at the conclusion ahsarty vote of thanks was accorded officials. Mt. C. I. Dasent was unanimously elccted .first president of the club, and 1 other officers elected wero as fol-lows:—Vice-presidents,- Messrs. B. H. G. Burn, W. Hildreth, G. W. Brigham, C. H.
