Tho steamer Balmoral Castle, with the Duke and Duchess of Connaught and Princess Patricia aboard, arrived at tho entrance of the bay this morning, during a heavy log, but the vessel's entry had to be delayed until the weather cleared. Tho (lagship Hermes has been in constant touch with the Bomoral Castlo by wireless telegraphy, and reported "All Well" as the liner entered tho bay. The British cruisers Hermes and Forte and tho Gorman third-class cruiser Sperber were dressed with bunting, and fired a Royal salute as the Balmoral Castle arrived. Tho yards of the British .warships were manned, and the band of the Hermes played the National Anthem. The landing is to take place at 11 o'clock, and a public reception will bo held in the City Hall. Tho Governor-General will open Parliament at noon for preliminary business, and the Royal opening by the Duke of Connaught, has been fixed for Friday. The newspapers are most cordial in their welcome, referring especially to the Duke's distinguished military career, and visit to South Africa a few years ago. They emphasise the significance of the presence of a member of the Boyal Family at the Union celebrations, and mention the occasion as indicating King George's ■ sympathy with the hopes attending the birth of the new nationMembers of tho Govornor-Gencral's and Commander-in-Chief's staff boarded the Balmoral Castle immediately on arrival, and subsequently Lord Methuen (Com-mander-in-Chief), the naval and military officials, and the Mayor visited their Royal Highnesses. Lord Gladstone (Governor-General) and Lady Gladstone, with General Botha (Prime Minister) and Mrs. Botha, and the other Ministers went aboard later.
