(From Our Special Correspondent.) -j '. The cantata "A Joyful Thanksgiving" was repeated by the combined Petono ,church' choirs ,in . St.- Augustine's, Church last evening, the production being on tho sanie lines as the initial ono given last week, -with the exception that tho soprano soloist, Miss Kibblewliite,' who through indisposition was unable to appear, was replaced at the eleventh • hour by Mrs.. Simmonds. The other soloists : were'—Contralto, Mrs. Ferguson; tenor, Mr. Blow; bass, Mr. Chamberlain. Mr. Sherwin conducted and Mr. Rennie was organist.. Tha- attendance was very good. A collection 'Vas taken up in aid of the ambulance wagon. 1 ' ' Details in connection with the carnival which is to be held at the Petone Palace Rink to-night in aid of the ambulance i\;agon fund are complete, and an excellent attendance is anticipated. The prizes won in the various competitions will be presented by the Mayor at the close of the carnival: • Yesterday morning at the Petone Police Court oniv first Offender for drunkenness was convicted and.fined ss. Mr. R. J.' Southgate was the presiding justice. On Saturday next the Petone Navals will hold tlwir annual smoke concert, when the presentation of trophies and long-service medals will take place. Those who will receive the servico decoration are:—Chaplain Rev. J. D. Russell (twelv6 years), C.P.O. Cruickshank (sixteen years), P.O. Hardham, V.C. (sixteen years), and P.O. Kayer (twelve years). Tho shooting trophies will be awarded to' the following:—Wilford Cup, 1 Gunner Mole; Major Courtney's trophy, Gunner Mole; company's gold medal, Gunner Walsh.
