THE WHITE SLAVE TRAFFIC.
STATEMENT BY THE PREMIER. Just before .the House rose at 1.50 this morning tho Prime Minister made a statement in regard to the case in which a New Zealand girl named Doris Williams was concerned. Sir Joseph quoted from polico records to show that tho movomcnts of Cellis and the woman "Mario" had been carefully noted by the authorities hero, and that the whole of tho facts had been forwarded to the High Commissioner in London for transmission to Scotland Yard. Inquiries made at tho instance of Inspector Ellison showed that tho girl Doris Williams had been living an immoral life in Wellington prior to her departure for Monto Video. He mado this statement because some people appeared to think that an innocent girl had been decoyed away by the persons named, and that the white slave traffic had extended to New Zealand.
