MR. J..W. JOYNT ENTERTAINED. ' Mr. J. W. Jpynt,;the Registrar of the New Zealand University, who is resigning that .position to represent the institution iu London, has always ,beon a patron of music during the years he. has resided in Wellington. As president of the Wellington Musical Union and Liedertafel he was fot-ed by the two societies in St. Audrew'.s Scliodlroora last evening, Mr. J. B. Hareourt 1 presiding. Appreciative . remarks of Mr. Joynt's interest in matters musical were mndo by Messrs. T. V. Waters (Union), and Mr. J. G. Chambers (Liedertafel), and Mr. Robert Parker, conductor of both societies expressed, in a few words, his personal regard for his,old friend. During the evening the Liedertafel sang three part songs, iucluding "Integer Vitae" (a beautiful translation by . Mr.VJoynt), and "The Students' Parting Song,", and theMusical Union , , assisted by the members of the Liedertafel, sang a couple of Mendelssohn's part. songs. During the evening Mr. Joynt was presented with a very fine full-weight Now Zealand rug. . Refreshments and social intercourse tilled in a most enjoyable evening, which terminated with goodbyes and best wishes to the departing president. '.. ■■
