—: _ ■ "I DON'T WANT'TO DIE." "I should'like to call your attention, sir, io the state of the atmosphere in this chamber," said Mr. G. M. Thomson in the House last evening, shortly alter nmo o'clock. "There are something like two hundred people in this chamber at the present moment, and the air is becoming very vitiated indeed. We are suffocating ourselves in this Chamber each night by the abominablo atmosphere. Something ought to bo done to improve matters, urged Mr. Thomson plaintively. "I'm sure I don't want to dio before'my timo'" (Laughter.) "The air is cool enough on this side of the House," remarked ■ the Prime. Alinister, forcing a jest, and the phalanx of tho groat Liberal party behind him and on the right pi" him suitably honoured it. "Of course," added Mr. 6. M. Thomson, "the sultry remarks of the previous speaker may have had something to do with-it." ~ "There are only throe ventilators in this House," explained Mr. Speaker, "and all threo are open."
