CHAIR OF MILITARY SCIENCE.
. POSITION IN NEW ZEALAND. Among the questions recently put in the House of U-epresentatives was one by Mr. Rhodes, M.P. for Ellesmere, to the Minister for Defence, as to whether he has given further consideration to the question of establishing a Chair of Military Scienco in connection with oik or other of our university colleges. Mr. Rhodes on that occasion reminded the Minister that in reply to a deputation from Canterbury College, which waited on him during tho recess, he had said that ho could not' do anything until Cabinet had had time to consider the matter. - :
In tho House yesterday, the Prime Minister Baid that! on January 81 last, in reply,to a communication from the Chairman of the Canterbury College Board of Governors, he stated that the whole matter would be duly considered when tho question of the establishment of a military collegers being dealt with. Communications are still being carried on regarding the establishment of a military college for the Commonwealth of Australia as, recommended by Lord Kitchener. Definite action in connection with'the proposal to institute a Chair _of Military- Science at one of tho Nev - Zealand universities must necessarily await the preparation c)fl further details regarding the military college r'or the Commonwealth.-.
