CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL.
THE APPEAL TO THE _ PUBLIC. At the meeting of the Hospital and Charitable' Aid Boird yesterday, the following motion Was proposed by Mr. R.'C. Kirk,. chairman. of the Hospital. Committee:— ' ■ ■'•■■;•■■ "That; this board tenders -its . best thanks to tlie Mayoress, Mrs. .Wilford, ■ for inaugurating.the nioveriient for a public subscription for the erection of a new Children's Hospital. It congratulates • her and his Worship . tho Mayor'upon the.splendid results accruing from' their arduous labours, and greatly, appreciates the generosity of all those who hare, so- cheerfully ■ assisted the project." . Mr. Kirk said they all knew how heartily Mrs: Wilford had .taken the matter- in hand, and how ably- she l had been assisted by her husband.- Nor'could they refrain from acknowledging . the splendid assistance given'to the movement by Mr. Hugh Ward, and, by the ltev. Hv Van Stavcren. Mr. Trevor seconded the motion. Mr. Fitzgerald took exception to the fact that although the Hospital Committee had sent,a letter ,of thanks to Mr. Hugh Ward none had been sent to the Mayor and Mrs. Wilford. It .was'pointed out that Mr. Ward' c services were concluded,- whilo-' the Mayor and Mrs. Wilford wero still Working in the interests of'-the. board. Mr. Kivk said, the letter referred to was a reply to a communication from Mr. Ward confirming, his. promised subscription. ,
