Mr. J. W. Joynt, M.A., who is proceeding to London to act there as the representative of the New Zealand University, will leave Wellington for Sydney on Friday next to - connect with the Orient liner Orvieto.

Mr. A. Shibbs, Deputy-Registrar .of the Supreme Court at AVellington, and Registrar of Industrial Awards for AVellington District, has been appointed .Registrar of the Supreme Court at Dunedin, in succession to Mr. Hawkins, who is being transferred to a similar position at Christchurch. Mr. Stubbs, who has had much official experience in different parts of the Dominion, especially in the South Island, came to Wellington about two years ago on transfer from Christchurch. He is a capable and esteemed officer, and his departure .will bo generally regretted. Outside the court precincts, he is perhaps best known as a popular member of the Thorndon Bowling Club.

Major Johnson, of the Salvation Army, who has been appointed, to succeed Captain Orames, as Provincial Secretary for the North. Island, will arrive from Brisbane via Sydney to-day, accompanied by Mrs. Johnson. Colonel Knight and Brigadier Glover will leave on a periodical visit to Gisborne on Friday, on which day Brigadier.Bray is to leave for Auckland.

Dr. Fanlke, a member of the honorary staff the AVellington Hospital, has been granted leave of absence from his duties'at the institution. He is at present on a holiday trip to tho South Sea islands. ■

Mr. AV B. Montgomery. Secretary of Customs, is at present at New Plymouth on Departmental business.

Commissioner Hay, Commander-in-Chief of the Salvation Army in Australasia, will visit New Zealand in January next. On that occasion he will' spend more time in each of the centres than he was able to do on his initial tour last year.

Messrs. Fuller and. Sons have appointed Mr. A.-F. Orr manager of the Theatre Royal in succession to Mr. Barrington AYaters, who is being transferred to Dunedin, where he will attend to the firm's interests at the Alhtmibra Theatre.

Mr. James Godber, an ex-city councillor, has decided to allow himself to be nominated for one of the vacancies on the City Council. Mr. S. J. Moran, of the legal firm, of Casey and Moran, will also be a candidate. Mr. G. T. London has been appointed treasurer of the Hospital and Charitable Aid Board, vico the late Mr. J. J. Devinc. Mr. T. Smith, general secretary of the AVellington AA'harf-labourers' Union, who has been in Lyttelton attending tho AVatersido Workers' Conference, is expected to return to AVellington to-mor--ICW. Dr. J. K. Jamieson fa brother of Dr. J. P. S. Jnmieson, of Eketahuna, and of Mr. AV.. J., Jamieson, of Wellington) has been appointed professor of anatomy at tho University, Ijeeds. He has, since he began studying _ medicine •at Edinburgh, been an anatomical student of a high order, and his original work during the last three years on the lymphatic system, which lias attracted notice in the Old Country, America, and Germany, led to bis appointment. Dr. Jamioson's father Mr. Robert .lamicson, of Cruisdal, Sandness, Shetland, will bo remombercd.
