SOCIAL AND PERSONAL.

The Laughter Bureau. It is possible that a Laughter Bureau, if founded in Wellington, might find quite a great amount of business awaiting it. With a Madame Souriante at its head, such as was represented by Miss Amy. Kane, it would surely prove a powerful centre of attraction. To smile upon all occasions, particularly exasperating ones, might at first prove rather difficult, but by no nieans so difficult would it bo to prance when angry, which was what Madame Souriante told her client to do always at such, times. Many people do it already, but then, thay might not do it so gracefully as it was done last night. Miss Amy Kane, as Madame Souriante, wore a very charming frock of blue gauze over blue silk, with white lacq yoke and sleeves, and a silver embroidered belt. Miss Muriel Wylie, who took tho part of fltiss Knottegiavs, Madnme's iSecretary and most accqm•plished'pupil. Wore a red coat and skirt. Miss A. Kawson, as Hyldegardo Templeton, an unfortunate maiden who hates her nance's sister, although she has not met.her, wore a pretty pale blue frock with a froiit panel of .white embroidery, and a blue hat trimmed with tinted roses. Miss G. Meddowcroft, the future sister-in-law, who is known by the name of Erniytrude Strongly, wore a soft white embroidered dress with touchos of blue, and a blue hat covered with roses. It is at Madame-Souriante's they finally meet. Wedding at Mauricevillt. Ivy Deadman to Mr. Charles Bernard j'eilson, on Friday last. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. J. J. Legavth. The Lutheran marriage service is a very impressive one, almost more - so than - that of other denominations. The bride looked very .charming in a dress, of cream taffetas silk trimmed with all-over lace, and insertion, and she carried a bouquet of New Zealand native flowers. She was • attended by two bridesmaids, Miss J. Deadmnn (her sister), and Misn A. Ne'ilsbh (sifter of tho 'bridegroom). The.best man was Mr. A. Fdrsberg,. and the groomsman Mr. C. W.
