OBITUARY.
.' , MR. GEORGE DENTON. Mr. George Denton,; an old and muchrespected, citizen of Wellington, died yesterday in his 77th year. Tho late Air. Denton came to New Zealand; in 1856. He arrived first at Nelson by the ship China, and came on to Wellington by schooner. He refrained from taking part in public affairs, but was one of the founders.of the Wellington Acclimatisation Society, and .for ten years its treasurer. He had the-first trout hatchery in his own grounds at Fern Hill, and used to hatch out' and distribute from 5000 to 6000 fish annually. Mr. Denton had been in business as an ironmonger in Wellington since 1863. Ho leaves a grown-up' family., '
