If it were wrong for a Conservative Government to inaugurate Protection, it was doubly wrong for a' professed Freetrade Premier to perpetuate it. ... The Prime Minister,' Sir Wilfrid Laurier, in replying, reiterated liis devotion to Freetrade. Protection he declared to be a great wrong. It made millions dishonest, one with another, and inculcated the vicious principle cf expecting value where none. had been given. "
