KEPLY.TO AN. INVITATION Tfc> VISIT NEW ZEALAND.

Tho Rev. W. Temple, a eon of the late Archbishop of Canterbury, is at present making h tout of the universities of Adelaide, Sydney, and Melbourne, under the auspices of the. World's Student Christian and spending about twelve days in each delivering a series of lectures and addresses upon Christian apologetic and social subjects. Mr. Temple is a Fellow and lecturer at Queen's' College, Osford, and is president of the Workers' Education Association of Great. Britain, an association consisting of about 1000 trades unions and clubs in affiliation for educational purposes.

The Anglican Bishop of Wellington (Dr. Wallis) recently wrote to Mr. Temple, inviting him to extend his visit to hew Zealand, but unfortunately he is' not able to accept the invitation. His reply to the Bishop is as follows:— "My Dear Lord Bishop.—l am exceedingly grateful for your kind letter and the invitation to visit .New Zealand. I wish it were possible for me to accept; but when 1 put myself at the disposal of The World Student Christian . Federation for this vacation, it was decided that I: should come to Australia, but that foT reasons of time I must confine myself to the three university centres here, I think this decision was probably right, but it is a matter of very great regret to me that, being so near, I cannot visit New Zealand. "Tours verv truly, "W. TEMPLE." It was' stated in Monday's Dominion that Mr. Temple will leave Australia on'' September 1 for .London, and upon his arrival in England he will, take the mastership of Repton Grammar School, one of the big public schuols of Derbyshire ' ' . . .
