HAWKE'S BAY HUNT CLUB. (By Tclcsrapu.—l'rcss Association.) Napier, July 27. Tho Hawko's Bay Hunt Club's annual steeplechase meeting was held at Hastings to-day. The weather was line, and thero was a fair attendance'. The going was heavy. Sixteen bookmakers were licensed. Results:— •HUNTERS' BRACELET HURDLES. Two miles.—Spaniard, list, -lib., 1 j Ruabon, 125t. 51b., 2; Watershed, 31st., 3. Rechabite, Alumina, Ever, ltonald, and Mahara also ran. Won comfortably by two lengths. Time, lmin. lteec. FIRST OPEN PLAT RACE. Seven furlongs.—Amato, list. -lib. (Kirlc), 1; Artie, 9st., 11; Idealism, list, -lib., 3. Centaur, Merriwing, and Appin also started. Won by three lengths easily. Time, train. 37sec. nUNT CLUB STEEPLECHASE. Two mles and a quarter.—The Chief, 12st. 71b., 1; Yaldhurst, list., 2; Oakley, list. 121b., 3. Honda also ran. All but the winner ran round the second fence from home. Won by six lengths. Time, smin. oosec. TRIAL HACK RACE. Five furlongs — Waitoke, 9st. 311:. (E. Lowe), 1; Kithara, 9st. 31b., 2; Goldeinar, 9st. 111b., 3. Viola, Boyne Water, Castleside, Shoemaker, Falsetto, and Entente also started. Won by two lengths. Time, lmin. Osec. HUNTERS' FLAT RACE. One mile and a half—Spaniard, list. 51b., 1; Watershed, list., 2; Itangatira, list. 71b., 3. Peaceful, Flavin, and Ronald also ran. Won easily.. Time, 2min. 59sec. SECOND OPEN FLAT RACE—Niwaru, 9st. (W. Kirk), 1; Ortygia, 9st. 101b., 2; Artie, !)st., 3. Amaru, liaupare, Seraphic, Andrew Mack, and Ultimatum also ran. Won easily. Time, lmin. 23;ec. FINAL STEEPLECHASE. Two miles. —Yashmak, list., 1; Ever, llfet., 2; The Pebble, list,. 31h., 3. Ruaboii, Ronda, -Rechabite, and Diana also ran. Won by three lengths.' Time, 4min. -Usee.

During tho Treutham' meeting Mr. E. J. Watt approached C. Jenkins and endeavoured to obtain his services for Wim-mera'-in the -Winter Cup,' but as. that rider had contracted to ride Peuates he was compelled to decline.Mr. Watt's offer.
Paisano, Stourton, and Paritutu were shipped to Riccarton last night.
The Kararnu team for the National meeting will bs put on tho boat at Napier on Monday, and will pass through Wellington on Tuesday of next week. F. D ; Jones will ride the flat horses, and Ranji Tomoaiia willVtako the place rendered vacant by tho accident to A. Julian.
: The North Canterbury Jockey Club's meeting will be held at Rangiora to-day. As several hunters nominated at Riccarton are engaged to-day, a good line as to their prospects at the C.J.C. meeting should be obtained.
Weights for the minor events ,at tho C.J.C. Winter meeting are duo-to-morrow.
Filial arrangements have been completed for the passage of Gold Lace and Effort bv Friday's. Sydney boat, and a youngster the property of Sir. Dan O'Brien will also go over. Those horses will bo in• charge 'of W..Ryan, and J. Lowo will not leave until after tho Nationals have been run. M. Gardiner with Crucinella is also-taking passage on Friday.
Ataahua's breakdown was not altogether unexpected in Melbourne. It was thought that something was amiss with the Mahaki- gelding as ho was not oil the track's' for several days after the Flemington meeting. Then when he did appear he pulled- up very lamo after nvorkiilgv"' ''
The English trainer, Alec Taylor, met with an enthusiastic reception, on his return to Manton l after his success in tho Derby and-Oaks. The horse was taken, from his carriage; which was drawn to' the house by those connected with tho stables, who had turned out in great ,'orce to meet hi'». Taylor expressed his pleasure at the cordiality of tho welcome, and also thanked his staff for tho groat successes t'hoy had helped him to achieve.
■ Although Maid of Corintl) and Rosedrop ran in the same ownership in the C c ks at Epsom in June, tho owner of the fillies did not declaro in either's favour. . It so happened that Rosedrop, the winner, was tho least fancied of tho. two.
Tbe New Zealand-bred Mot'oa has found some backing for the Epsom Handicap to be decided at tbe A.J.C. spring meeting.' At the Aspendalo Park (Vic.) meeting on July 20..
